Baroque Band in Two Concerts of Music From
18th Century New Spain
The program for the performance at St Luke’s and the Chicago Cultural Center will feature works recently discovered in the vaults of Durango Cathedral in Mexico by eminent musicologist and Northwestern University professor Dr. Drew Edward Davies. At a time when much of the music performed was intended for use in the church, Baroque Band will perform short symphonies by Jerusalem, Herrando, Perez, and Mison which they will intersperse with Versos that would have been used for the services. This will be the first time that these works have been performed since the 18th century.
Saturday, November 1, at 7:30 pm.
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church
Logan Square, 2649 N. Francisco Avenue.
