Denis Azabagic and Eugenia Moliner discuss music and Día de los Muertos with Drew Davies

A roundtable discussion of this fascinating holiday dating back hundreds of years and celebrated to this day in Mexico. Spain, Brazil and many cultures throughout the world still honor the dead in similar holidays. Northwestern Professor Drew Davies will discuss the music and the myth of Día de los Muertos with acclaimed classical musicians Denis Azabagic and Eugenia Moliner.

Día de los Muertos

Chicago Sinfonietta presents the second annual Día de los Muertos concert in celebration of the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday. The stirring concert will be led by Maestro Hector Guzman and features special guests Denis Azabagic (guitar) and Eugenia Moliner (flute). We will celebrate the lives of our departed loved ones with the orchestral music of Mexican composers Gori Cortes, Arturo Márquez, and Silvestre Revueltas. Additional pieces to be performed include Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez and the overture to Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
