El Payo CD Release


El Payo is a popular Rumba/Nuevo Flamenco-Fused group based in Chicago celebrating the release of their self-titled debut album. This CD is 12 tracks of original music. Their distinct sound is infused with elements of rock, salsa, ska, and reggae with unmistakable overtones of passionate raw energy that is flamenco music. The band includes singer David Gonzalez, guitarist David Chiriboga, percussionist/drummer Raul Fernandez, bass guitarist Tom Kimball, percussionist Javier Saume, trumpet player Victor Garcia and Augustine Alvarez on electric guitar.

A native Italian, Ms. Mangiameli has performed on national and international stages for nearly a decade. A sought after flamenco performer and teacher in Chicago, she co-founded the flamenco trio Idilio, with whom she released her debut album in 2009. She has collaborated with Las Guitarras De España, El Payo, Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater, Clinard Dance Theater, and many others. Ms. Mangiameli teaches at the Flamenco Arts Center and has been invited to teach workshops at Institutions such as the Cervantes Institute, Columbia college and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
