The Old Town School of Folk Music and Agúzate Productions are partnering once again to bring you the 6th Annual Tribute to the Improvisational Singer. This event is a celebration of the improvisor (or “sonero”) in traditional Salsa. Frankie Vázquez is one of the greatest proponents of the sonero tradition whose credits include Manny Oquendo’s Conjuto Libre, The Spanish Harlem Orquestra and Jimmy Bosch. Frankie currently fronts his own orchestra, Los Soneros Del Barrio, while still recording and performing with other top acts in the industry. He is accompanied by an all-star lineup of Chicago’s top salsa musicians, under the direction of Edwin Sanchez.
