Gaitas and Tambores workshop with M.A.K.U. Sound System
M.A.K.U Sound System draws inspiration from traditional Afro-Colombian music and incorporates various rhythms such as cumbia, puya, and porro.
Come join members of M.A.K.U to learn basic drum and gaita rhythms and about traditional music of the Atlantic Coast of Colombia.
This Workshop consists of teaching the traditional music from the Atlantic coastal regions of Colombia, which posses a very strong African and Indigenous influence. The workshop is an interactive, informative and hands-on session that covers aspects about the music, the instruments, the rhythms, the history and the social aspects that are related to Afro-Colombian traditional music.
You will be encouraged to participate, ask questions and try out some of the instruments. All you need is a love of music to participate, no previous musical training required.
Instruments Presented during the workshop are: Drums: Tambora, Alegre, llamador, Gaitas (macho/hembra) and Maracones.
