Juan Chawuk is a Tojolobal Maya, from Las Margaritas in Chiapas, Mexico. He is a contemporary artist and a passionate arts advocate and arts activist. Chawuk is an acclaimed and celebrated painter, sculptor, installation artist, and performance artist. His work has been featured throughout Mexico and will soon be featured in solo exhibits at Rutgers University, and in Milwaukee and Kansas City.
