The Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz series
Howard Levy with Chévere de Chicago
Composer, virtuoso pianist and master harmonica player, Howard Levy, will turn up the heat at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. for a night of Latin Inspiration. This free concert, a part of Millennium Park’s Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz series, is presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture, and the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
Appearing with Levy are his long-time comrades in the Latin/jazz/funk/blues band, Chévere de Chicago along with special guests Victor Garcia, Tom Garling and Rocky Yera, who will premiere Levy’s new suite, “Recuerdos de Nueva Yorque.” As part of the evening, Levy will play with the masters in contemporary acoustic jazz, Trio Globo, performing selections from their latest CD, Steering by the Stars. The evening will also include several duets with Levy and the astounding guitarist Chris Siebold.
