New Alma Latina Nights
Agúzate Productions and Tumbao present…Alma Latina Nights, a new live music series dedicated to Latin American, Spanish, and Afro-Caribbean culture.
This unique cultural evening will take place every Thursday at Tumbao 3213 W Armitage Ave, at 6:30 pm,
All performances are free and open to the public. Workshop participants will pay a small nominal fee for the session.
El Payo
March 5 and 12 – Workshop starts at 6:30 pm
and performance at 8:00 pm
El Payo is the only Rumba/Nuevo Flamenco group of its class in Chicago. Its members come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, hailing from countries such as Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia. Their distinct sound is influenced by a rich combination of rumbas, traditional and modern flamenco, as well as a repertoire of classic Latin American songs done with a different flare.
El Payo is led by singer David González, flamenco guitarists David Chiriboga and Alberto Alvarez, percussionist/drummer Raúl Fernández, and dancer/percussionist Edwin Suárez.
Jorge Emmanuelli y sus Bomberos
March 19 and 26 – Workshop starts at 6:30 pm

Jorge Emmanuelli Náter, elder twin of “los gemelos Emmanuelli” and great-grandson of master Bomba drummer Sergio Náter, founded and directed Grupo Folklórico de Bomba y Plena Raíces Eternas. Jorge Emmanuelli is considered a master drummer, singer, dancer, and composer of both Bomba and Plena in Puerto Rico. Emmanuelli recently moved to Chicago
and his new group “Jorge Emmanuelli y sus Bomberos” will debut at Tumbao on March 19th.
