Salsa Celtica
The 13th annual Chicago SummerDance series presents free mambo dance lessons by Andy Cruz and live music by Salsa Celtica.
Salsa Celtica is a vibrant 11-piece world music fusion band from Edinburgh, Scotland. Their synthesis of Scottish and Irish traditional music with all the Latin American elements of salsa has taken them and their music all over the world. In the last ten years the group has been a hit equally at major Celtic, jazz, world music and salsa festivals. Their albums have topped the New York and L.A. salsa charts and European world music charts. The lineup combines some of Scotland and Ireland’s most exciting traditional musicians mixed with a stellar group of world, jazz and salsa musicians from the U.K. and Latin America.
This event is part of the 13th annual Chicago SummerDance festival. Chicago SummerDance is an eleven-week festival featuring one-hour dance lessons by professional instructors, followed by two hours of live music and dancing on a open-air dance floor, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, 6 to 9:30 pm, and Sunday afternoon, 4 to 7 pm, weather-permitting.
