Manuel “Mannix” Martinez is a singer and musical director from Ponce, Puerto Rico who now resides in Chicago. One of Puerto Rico’s legendary Soneros, he rose to fame with “Orquesta La Terrifica” and later joined the legendary “Sonora Poncena” performing with that group for 13 years and recording two gold records. His golden voice has taken him from Madison Square Garden to the Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico to Europe and Brazil. He has also performed on stage along side Latin superstars like Celia Cruz, Pete El Conde, and Ritmo Oriental de Cuba.

Mannix’s Tribute to The Latin Legends focuses on the music of legends that are no longer with us including Ismael Rivera, La Sonora Matancera and Celia Cruz.
A Salsa percussion workshop with Johnny Blas is offered in the Thursday Workshop Series on Thursday, June 4th.
