The Old Town School of Folk Music and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs present a fantastic double bill of Mexican Son as part of this year’s Chicago World Music Festival. Opening the show in their Old Town School debut are 25-year veterans Zazhil who have toured extensively throughout the world pioneering their “Son Mexican Fusion” mixing traditional and contemporary styles and instrumentation.
Son de Madera is one of the most highly respected and well-traveled representatives of the Son Jarocho movement of Veracruz, Mexico. Son de Madera is a perennial favorite at the Old Town School.
